Devil Scorpionfish

Scorpaenopsis Diabola

Often wrongly identified by divers as a stone fish, the Devil Scorpion Fish is probably the best camouflaged fish in the scorpion family. Like the stone fish, it waits totally motionless for hours until a prey ventures close enough to guarantee a successful strike. If it is disturbed, this "ugly" fish will display its pectoral fins that are brilliantly colored as a warning to back off.
